The Network, which is managed and coordinated by ISTRAM, operates as a Virtual Research Establishment covering a wide area of aeronautical sectors and aims, in medium term, to cover the entire area of Aeronautics. The areas of research currently covered by the Network are:

  • Aeronautical materials and structures, metallic or composite, differential or integral.
  • Innovative Manufacturing Processes, Advanced Human-Centred Design Techniques, including Virtual Reality, and Production Systems Planning, Control and Networking.
  • Analog and Integrated Circuits design, Embedded DSP Systems, Computer Vision, Signal Detection and Information Fusion.
  • Physical Metallurgy, materials characterization, structure-property relations, alloy design, microstructure and process simulations.
